Toby Parnell wins the 2017 Fenland Clarion road race

Road Races are mass start races with usually about 60 riders. The winner is simply the first over the finish line. The main regulatory body for domestic road racing is British Cycling.

In this region a large number of the road races are organised by clubs that are affilliated to the Eastern Road Race League (ERRL) which promotes a regional race series and championship. Cambridge CC is a member of the league. Here is a short video on road racing in the ERRL.

One of the Rules of Membership is that every club promotes at least one race per season. In doing so our racers are then eligible to enter any of the league events for that season. We promote the Ike Saul Memorial Road Race which takes place in March. Before submitting an entry to ride this event, there is an obligation on our members to offer assistance in the organisation and to check with the organiser that all marshalling and other necessary duties can be met.

For the mature rider the League of Veteran Racing Cyclists organises races for those over forty years of age.

Contact our Racing Secretary for more details on how to start racing for Cambridge CC.
